Magnetic Island: Climate And Beaches
Location Situated just offshore of the city of Townsville,
Queensland, in Cleveland Bay, Magnetic Island is a 52 km2 mountainous
island. Over two-thirds of the island is national park. There are
however more than two thousand permanent residents on the island, which
counts as a suburb of Townsville.
 The Climate One of Magnetic
Island’s best features is its forever tropical climate. You are always
sure of getting nice sunshine and blue sky, whatever the time of year.
Summer is between September and March. Temperatures typically top 30⁰C
during this period. By April, the weather cools down but it is never any
less than 14⁰C.
Whatever the time of year you decide to visit the island, you are
certain to have between 7 and 9.5 hours of bright sunshine. The most
hours of sunshine are in September and October.
The rainy season is between January and March, even though average
rainfall is very low (about 300 mm per month during this season). With
such a perfect weather for holidaying, Magnetic Island is the perfect
getaway. You just jump into the plane and ferry, sure that you will get
the perfect climate on arrival.
 Pristine Beaches The island
is bejeweled with 23 bays and beaches, abounding with Hoop Pine trees.
It has one of the most beautiful coastlines of Australia, with its
turquoise lagoons and sparkling white sandy beaches. Some of these
beaches can only be accessed by boat but most of them can be reached
through walking tracks. Huge granite boulders enclose the benches and
the rocky headlands give an impressive view that, once witnessed,
remains in the memory for life.
